Hi, my name is Rhett Lee! It is my 4th and final year at Harbor Day School. I started my journey at 2 years old in yellow room and I am now 5 years old and getting ready for big school next year. I have a rare genetic condition called Rubinstien-Taybi Syndrome that affects multiple systems and functions of the body and brain. I love to read books, listen to music and sing nursery rhymes, and steal any electronic I can get my hands on! One fun fact about me is that I only have 1 kidney! When I started at Harbor Day School 4 years ago, I was unable to walk, talk or eat independently. I was extremely limited to puréed foods due to trouble chewing and swallowing. I took my very first independent steps at my first Milestones in Motion across the finish line during my victory lap! Going into my last year, I am able to not only walk, but I can run. I am able to feed myself and can eat a variety of textures and foods now. I love a good chicken nugget. I am also able to communicate with sign language, AAC device, and the best part is that I have recently found my voice and can verbalize a lot of words on my own! Every single thing I have accomplished during my time here is solely because of God fearing people like you, who donate graciously to give me the opportunities I need. It’s because of you that my mom and dad know what my voice sounds like. It’s because of you that I don’t have the same diet as my 5 month old baby sister. It’s because of you that I can chase my little brother around the living room. Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations to Harbor Day School on Rhett’s behalf. From the bottom of our hearts, we will never be able to repay it. We have exceeded our goal year over year with last year being our first year to fund Rhett’s spot costing $20,000 a year. We hope to be able to go out with a bang our final year here!
